With overwhelming support from the current membership, The Million Dollar Club (MDC) will be changing its name to The Masters Circle, effective January 1, 2012.

Over the years, the Club Leadership Team has heard many members voice concerns regarding the Club’s name and consumer/client misconceptions.

This year, the Leadership Team conducted various surveys of both PMAR members and MDC members to assess the current perceptions of the Club and follow-up questions regarding a possible name change.

The initial surveys showed a disconnect between the negative connotations of money and/or earnings associated with the name “The Million Dollar Club” and the positive and professional mission of the Club – “The purpose of the Million Dollar Club of the Portland Metropolitan Association of Realtors® is to recognize the achievements of top Realtors® who have earned a level of excellence in real estate, and to provide programs and services that enhance the competency, professionalism and productivity of its members.”

Based on the surveys, the Leadership Team saw significant support for a name change among the current MDC members, as well as the general PMAR membership.

In August, the MDC members approved the name change by vote.

Although the name will be changed in 2012, the membership levels will remain the same. Additionally, all MDC Life Members will continue as Life Members under the new name.

Applications for 2012 Masters Circle membership are available for download here. Members will receive the new logo for personal marketing materials upon joining for 2012.

The Leadership Team is committed to revitalizing the image and participation in the Club amongst PMAR members and the public, and believes that this name change is an essential first step in that process.
